Country’s first Liberation War cartoon exhibition begins at CU

A 10 day long (22-31 March 2022) cartoon exhibition of Liberation War has been organized by Chittagong University Museum and 1971: Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum (Khulna) on the occasion of 50th anniversary of Great Independence Day and genocide.

The opening ceremony was held on Tuesday morning in the exhibition room of the CU Museum. 

CU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shirin Akhter was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion.  CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Benu Kumar Dey and CU Bangabandhu Chair Professor Dr Muntasir Mamun were present as special guests.  Professor Dr Mohammad Mahbubul Haque, Director of CU Museum presided over the function. Mohammad Hossain, Assistant Registrar conducted the program.

  CU VC said that for the first time in Bangladesh, Chittagong University has organized a cartoon exhibition on the 1971 Liberation War.  So today is a historic day for Chittagong University.  

She said the independence movement of Bangladesh under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the great liberation war is an unforgettable event in the world history.  

During the war of liberation in 1971, various cartoons were published in various newspapers and magazines in support of the liberation war of Bangladesh.  These cartoons will play an important role in presenting the true history of the great liberation war to the new generation of Bangladesh.

   The CU Vice-Chancellor wished success to the 10-day cartoon exhibition of the Liberation War and announced its inauguration.

  The event was attended by CU Deans, CU Teachers Association Leaders, Registrars, Divisional Presidents, Directors of Institutes and Research Centres, Proctors and Assistant Proctors, Teachers, Students.  

  The exhibition will be open to all.  About 50 cartoons published in different newspapers of the country and abroad on the liberation war of Bangladesh have got a place in the exhibition.
