Country’s economic dev to continue without harming croplands: Mannan

Country's economic development will be continued without destroying crop lands, said Planning Minister MA Mannan.

He said Bangladesh is now self dependent in food while construction of a huge number of bridges and roads is easing communication which will also contribute to boost economic development.

Minister was addressing a development meeting organized by 300 acres of crop land prevention committee at Baniashana Bazar under Dakop upazila in the district as the chief guest on Friday.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the architect of the country's development as Bangladesh emerged as a role model of progress in the world under her dynamic leadership", Mannan added.

Highlighting massive development program across the country, the planning minister said the incumbent government has constructed infrastructural development including thousands kilometer of roads, schools, colleges and hospitals led by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

"The government has ensured education allowances in each month for all primary students, poverty stricken secondary and higher secondary students, meritorious and under privileged students, he said, adding that Bangladesh will be prosperous and developed country by 2041, if present development spree to continue", Minister added.

Whip Panchanan Biswas, advocate Gloria Jharna Sarkar, MP, ex-secretary Dr Nomita Halder and president of Dakop upazila Awami League addressed the meeting as special guests with chairman of Baniashanta Union Parishad Sudeb Krisna Roy in the chair.

Later, the planning Minister visited 'Jhulonto' village of Sutarkhali union, inaugurated Loudob ferry ghat and exchanged views with local AL leaders and activists.
