Planning Minister MA Mannan MP said, “We have thousands of bank branches across the country. Banking services are available now at people’s doorstep. Banking services using the old way will gradually disappear from the country. Everything will go on with the help of cards, machines and other ways including online. Before, one had to withdraw money by cheque, but now it is no longer necessary. We are also moving towards the Digital Bangladesh as everything in the country is going online”.

The minister came up with the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of a mural of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman built at the initiative of Upazila Parishad and LGED on the South Sunamganj UZ Parishad premises on Saturday morning.

The planning minister further said that independent Bangladesh, freedom fighters and Bangabandhu are tied on the same thread. The nation will always remember the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the creation of this independent state. The dream of the Father of the Nation was to establish an independent Bangladesh as ‘Sonar Bangla’. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is working towards that goal. The mural of Bangabandhu reminds us of the spirit of the great freedom fighters. The mural of Bangabandhu is the bearer and carrier of the spirit of 1971.

He again said Bangabandhu’s murals are being built across the country in gratitude for Bangabandhu's sacrifice. This mural will inspire future generations in the spirit of Bangabandhu's ideology and the Liberation War. Therefore, if we can cherish the ideal of the Father of the Nation, the country will turn into the Sonar Bangla or golden Bangla of Bangabandhu’s dream.

MA Mannan further said, “A group of people wanted to turn the country into a backward country but they did not succeed. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, after coming to power, has been developing the country only by thinking of the common people. We have seen the visible appearance of the Padma Bridge in the country only for the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. There is no sector in the country where development has not taken place”.

Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner Md. Jahangir Hossain, District LGED Executive Engineer Mahbubur Rahman, South Sunamganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Faruk Ahmed, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jebun Nahar Shammi, Vice Chairman Nur Hossain, Women Vice Chairman Dulan Rani Talukder and former Commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad. Rahman and others were present at the time.

Later, Planning Minister MA Mannan inaugurated the newly constructed buildings of Patharia Union Land Office and West Pagla Land Office in South Sunamganj Upazila.
