Counter Terrorism Unit nabs 4 hackers in Chattogram

CMP Counter Terrorism Unit has arrested 4 members of the fraud ring for hacking Chattogram City Corporation's (CCC) birth registration server and issuing certificates to 548 people.

 They were arrested in raids in different parts of the city on Monday night. The arrested are: Md Zahir Alam (16), Mostakim (22), Delwar Hossain Simon (23), Md Abdur Rahman Arif (35).

 Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Counter Terrorism Department Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Dr. Manjur Morshed confirmed this information in a press conference on Tuesday.

 He said, 4 members of birth certificate fraud ring have been arrested.  At that time, 4 CPUs, 3 monitors, 1 scanner, 2 printers and 4 mobiles were seized from them.

 The interrogation of the members of the fraud ring revealed that they have so far created more than 5,000 birth certificates through fraud.

 Its mentioned that in five wards of Chattogram City Corporation, there has been an incident of taking birth certificate by hacking ID.  548 birth certificates were issued by hacking the IDs of these wards.  Four days before the matter came to light, while verifying the money and numbers deposited for the certificate, the concerned people realized that the ID had been hacked.
