Comilla University Press Club has announced its new executive committee comprising nine members. Imtiaz Hasan Rifat of Channel 24 has been elected as the President, while Javed Rayhan of Dainik Pratidiner Bangladesh takes over as the General Secretary.
The announcement was made on Wednesday (27 October) through a notice signed by Shotabdi Jubayer, Advisor and Founding Convener of the organization; Nahid Iqbal, Advisor and Founding Member Secretary; Ikbal Hassan, former President; and Katib Hasan Murad, former General Secretary.
The announcement and handover ceremony took place earlier in the conference room of the university's science faculty. Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Masuda Kamal officially announced the committee. The event was anchored by the outgoing General Secretary, Katib Hasan Murad.
The newly formed committee includes Amdadul Haque from RisingBD as Vice-President and Anon Mazumdar from Dainik Amader Somoy as Joint General Secretary. Tamim Miya from Daily Sokaler Somoy will serve as the Finance Secretary, while Atiqur Rahman Tonoy of Dainik Ajker Patrika has been appointed as the Organizing Secretary. Fatema Rahim Rince from Dainik Swadesh Bichitra will act as the Information and Library Secretary.
Additionally, Mariyam Akter from Dainik Bartman and Abdullah from Barta Bazar have been selected as executive members.
The Press Club aims to foster journalistic activities and provide a platform for budding journalists at the university. The new leadership is expected to continue strengthening the organization’s role in campus journalism.
