The latest government’s data suggests that the number of coronavirus cases is rising in Bangladesh.

The health department on Saturday confirmed 2,686 fresh cases in the last 24 hours which is low in the number of infections in recent days.

Those cases were found by testing 11,193 samples, additional director general for health Prof Nasima Sultana said at the daily briefing.

The World Health Organization earlier urged countries grappling with coronavirus to step up control measures, saying it is still possible to rein it in, as some nations clamp fresh restrictions on citizens.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called on countries to adopt an aggressive approach, highlighting Italy, Spain, South Korea and India’s biggest slum to show it was possible to stop the spread, no matter how bad the outbreak.

Prof Nasima said in the last 24 hours, 30 more patients died of Covid19 and 1,628 patients have recovered during the time.
