The novel coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to a standstill. Flights are being cancelled all around and countries are locking themselves down to prevent the spread of this virus. Bangladeshi government too has taken preemptive measures to safely contain the virus to prevent further spread. In a country which is as densely populated as Bangladesh, it is anybody’s guess as to what extent social distancing can be followed to prevent the spread of the virus. However, it is disconcerting news that only 1732 Covid-19 testing kits are left in a country where on an average 1,115 people reside every square kilometer.

Facing such calamitous conditions the responsibility

that befalls on everyone is that all should know and

abide by the regulations to control the spread of the

virus as per  health experts

It is imperative for citizens to adhere to the proper safety guidelines as dictated by health experts. Failure to abide by these rules can increase the expanse of the virus’ spread. In a recent press briefing, Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has said that originally only two thousand testing kits were brought for detecting coronavirus and at present none of the officials know when the next batch of testing kits might arrive. However, whether the virus is spreading amongst people of the grassroots level can be determined through pneumonia tests. Still, no one is sure as to the level of virus spread at field level.

Experts opine that the immediate risk of being exposed to this virus is still low for most, but as the outbreak expands, that risk will increase. Facing such calamitous conditions the responsibility that befalls on everyone is that all should know and abide by the regulations to control the spread of the virus as per  health experts. It is thus important to know how the virus spreads and how to act when symptoms similar to Covid-19 is seen amongst those whom you know.

The first batch of the testing kits were provided by WHO with numbers now measuring around 17 hundreds it is important to acquire more kits as soon as possible. But above all it is imperative to opt for prevention rather than detection.
