Corona virus sample testing lab has been set up at Chittagong Medical College (CMC). A third lab was set up in Chittagong to test for corona virus samples. Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin has officially inaugurated the Corona Virus Sample Testing Lab at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The lab was inaugurated at the CMC Microbiology Department on Saturday morning. The test will start from Sunday in the lab set up in the CMC Microbiology Department.
CCC mayor said everyone in charge of the lab will perform their assigned duties with dedication. CMC is grateful to those who collaborated to set up this lab. After many efforts PCR lab has been set up.
Samples will be tested daily in the PCR lab. If the manpower and experience increase, the number of tests will be increased. Corona will come to check only if the doctor advises. The more tests that are done, the more patients can be identified and medical services provided.
Our medical equipment kit, PPE, masks, gloves were in crisis but now it is not in crisis. Sample tests will be readily available in a few days so it is important to follow the doctor's advice patiently. Here doctors, nurses are working at the risk of life in medical services.
Chittagong Medical College Principal Prof Dr Shamim Hasan said only a few samples were being tested on the first day. Our sample test will be increased later. The corona test became uncertain as a defect was detected in the PCR machine installed by the CMC on last May 3. Later the machine was sent to Dhaka to repair the defect.
Prime Minister Special Assistant Biplob Barua requested a PCR machine was given to CMC from Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) to reduce Chittagong sample clutter on last May 4. Corona virus samples will begin in the CMC lab from Sunday after calibration with the CVASU PCR machine.
