With a huge number of Corona virus patients at the Corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, the death toll at the unit is also gradually increasing day by day.
The unit recorded 25 deaths during the last 24-hour period, the highest ever death toll in a single day since the first Corona virus was detected in Rajshahi more than one year ago.
Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani, Director of RMCH informed the total death toll at the Corona unit of the hospital stands at 340 during this month.
Earlier on June-24, the highest death toll was 18 at the unit.
He further informed, of today's death 12 were from Rajshahi, five each from Chapainawabganj and Natore, two from Naogaon and one from Chuadanga. However, more than a half of the patients at the unit died today with the Corona virus symptoms who did not even get the time to test their samples before their death.
Meanwhile, 70 more patients by being attacked with Corona virus have been admitted to the Corona unit of the hospital totaling the number of patients 459 as against 405 Corona dedicated beds during the last 24-hour period.
A large number of Corona virus patients admitted to the hospital are from the rural areas most of whom are arriving at the terminal stage of their infection giving a little chance for the physicians to treat them, Director of RMCH informed further.
