Cops catch robbers using advanced tech in Natore

Police arrested three men in connection to a murder and Tk 70,000 robbery in Natore recently. Natore Superintendent of Police (SP) Liton Kumar Saha said this at a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon.

A police investigation led to the arrest of those involved in the robbery using information technology and  CCTV footage. The detainees made confessional statements in court. 

The arrestees were identified as Rabbani, 23, son of Wazed Ali of Bildahar village in Singra upazila of Natore, Mintu, 35, son of late Abdur Razzak of the same village and Arif Hossain, 32, son of late Kamal Hossain of Gobarchapa village in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon.

SP Liton Kumar Saha said Abul Kalam of Dharampur village under Durgapur upazila of Rajshahi lodged a written complaint with Natore police station on January 18 this year. 

According to the complaint, Abul Kalam's nephew Shimul, Liton and Sanwar were traveling to Gokul Nagar Bazar in Natore Sadar Upazila to buy betel leaf. On the way, a group of hijackers stopped the auto-rickshaw carrying them near Alaipur Relaxation Laboratory in Natore. They then hacked Sanwar and snatched Tk 70,000 in cash. 

When the case was filed in this regard, the police started the investigation. Rabbani was arrested from Palashi village of Tarash police station in Sirajganj district with the help of CCTV footage. According to his confession, Mintu and Arif were arrested from Chandura in Gazipur district by tapping their mobile phones. 

When the accused were later handed over to the court, they gave confessional statements and were sent to jail on the order of the court.

Meanwhile, after the press conference, the Superintendent of Police distributed oxygen cylinders and hand sanitizers to the members of various police stations and police outposts in Natore district.
