Identifying him as a police official, he used to realise toll and cheat people using 16 mobile phones and 24 SIM cards.
According to sources of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, identifying him as he Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara police station under RMP Masud Alam, an imposter phoned three people using four separate numbers of Terokhadia Dabtola area under Rajpara police station and demanded money from them for investigation of the 'Lost' advertisements they published in newspapers and for recovery of the lost items. But, those people complained at the police station instead of paying him money.
Masud Rana, SI of Rajpara police station on 19 September sent the mobile numbers through which the imposter claimed money to the Cyber Crime Unit of RMP. After synthesizing the information and data of those mobile phones, Cyber Crime Unit of RMP detected the identities of the imposter and with the help of Pabna district police arrested him from Chalk Abdul Shukur area under Aminpur police station of Pabna district. The imposter was identified as Md. Faruk Hossain Fitu(42) son of Nader Sheikh and late Aleya Begum of village Chalk Abdul Shukur under Aminpur Police station of Pabna district.
Duing interrogation arrested Fitu informed he studied up to class eight. In 2001 he went to Dhaka and worked at a Security Company known as Tropical Security Homes Limited till 2009. After 2009 he returned to his house and in 2012 he again went to Dhaka and worked as a tea seller in various places of Dhaka till 2017.
From 2017 to the time of his arrest, he had been realising money from various people by identifying himself as a police. Police recovered from his possession three mobile phones, five SIM cards and Taka 7670/= which he realised by cheating people.
Cyber Crime Unit has so far found 16 mobile phones and 24 SIM cards used by imposter Faruk Hossain Fitu. Fitu informed, he used to change his mobile phones and the SIM card after every three to four months.
