Cop dies of corona in Rajshahi

Abul Kalam Azad(35), an ASI of police died of Coronavirus at the ICU of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Wednesday noon, informed Dr. Saiful Ferdous, Deputy Director of RMCH.

The incident of death of ASI Abul Kalam Azad has been informed to the Superintendent of Police of Rajshahi Mohammad Shahidullah and the Quantum Foundation has also been contacted for further steps.

Iftekhayer Alam, Spokesperson of Rajshahi district police, informed ASI Abul Kalam  was posted at the district Judges court.

As developed symptoms of Coronavirus, samples from his body was collected on June-22 and the report was found positive.

Then, he was taking treatment at the police hospital in Rajshahi but, when his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to ICU of RMCH where he died during treatment on Wednesday noon.  

ASI Abul Kalam was a resident of Sherpur upazila of Bogura district. He used to live at a rented house at Terokhadia area of the city with his wife and two children, six-year and six months of age. 

DIG, Rajshahi Range AKM Hafiz Akhter and Superintendent of Police of Rajshahi Mohammad Shahidullah expressed deep shock at the death of ASI Kalam.

They also expressed sympathy towards the bereaved family members and sought the salvation of the departed soul of ASI Abul Kalam.
