Coordination meeting held to check spread of Covid-19

A coordination meeting of Rajshahi district and the Upazila Committee on resisting the spread of Covid-19 (Corona Virus) was held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi on Saturday morning. 

Hamidul Haque, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi presided over the meeting. He directed all Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the district on the dos of controlling the virus through video conference. 

He directed the concerned UNOs to create mass awareness, to ensure home quarantine to all foreign returnees, a round the clock vigilance and to stop all sort of social, religious functions and gatherings through consultation. He added, at least 15-day of home quarantine should be ensured for all the foreign returnees and people should be convinced not to gather in front of the tea-stalls and other places. The local NGOs, village police and guards should be used to discourage such gatherings and hand sanitizers should be kept infront of every offices, municipalities and union levels.

He also directed the UNOs to monitor the markets and told them to convince the traders and customers not to sell or procure excessive goods to store those in houses by being panicky. He also informed, there is sufficient stock of food grains in the country. He also directed the concerned government officials and employees not to leave their work stations during the holidays.  

The meeting was attended, among others, by Civil Surgeon, Rajshahi, Enamul Haque and Superintendent of Police, Rajshahi, Mohammad Shahidulah.  It is learnt, so far 1,643 people, mostly returnees from abroad, have been kept under home quarantine in Rajshahi division. Of them none has so far been detected to bear Corona virus or to be taken in isolation and a total number of 76 people have been so far kept under home quarantine in Rajshahi metropolitan area till 5-00 pm of Saturday, informed a source quoting Dr. Hedayetul Islam, Director of Health, Rajshahi Division,  on Saturday.   

Humayun Kabir Khandker, Divisional Commisioner of Rajshahi distributed leaflets to create mass consciousness among people about Corna Virus at the zero point of Shaheb Bazaar on Friday morning. He was accompanied by AKM Hafiz Akhter, DIG of Police, Rajshahi range, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Hamidul Haque, Civil Surgeon of Rajshahi Enamul Haque and local police administration during this time. Divisional Commissioner further said, there was sufficient food stock in the division and no one should give any attention to any sort of rumour of food shortages. 

AKM Hafiz Akhter, DIG, Rajshahi range informed, decision has been taken to ban all sort of  mass gathering and shut down of all entertainment spots in the division to check possible Corona virus infection.
