An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to formulate a strategy for the implementation of the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan (MCPP) as part of the 100-day work plan of the ministry on Tuesday
According to a press release, the meeting was held in the conference room of the ministry.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary Dr. Farhana Ahmed presided over the meeting.
She said that the coordinated efforts of the relevant ministries and agencies of the government are essential for the implementation of the MCPP. Dr Farhana Ahmed said, "We want to formulate the strategy within a time frame taking everyone's opinion." She added that the strategy will play an effective role in climate adaptation and mitigation measures, increased use of renewable energy, afforestation and sustainable management of forest resources.
In the meeting, representatives of various ministries and agencies gave their opinions on the steps to be taken to formulate the MCPP strategy.
All the participants assured their full cooperation in the speedy and effective implementation of the MCPP.
Others present at the meeting included the Ministry's Additional Secretary (Administration) Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, and senior officials of various ministries.
The Ministry's Deputy Secretary Dharitri Kumar Sarkar gave a power point presentation on Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan.
