Contraband cigarette seized at Ctg airport

A vigilance team of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) recovered 1,112 cartons of contraband cigarettes at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Friday night, reports BSS. 

Acting on secret information, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate in cooperation with the NSI team recovered this consignment of cigars for the third time.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines sources said that a number of passengers, embarked at Abu Dhabi airport with these cigars, landed at Chattogram airport around 9 pm on Friday.

Assistant Commissioner of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Mohammad Readul Islam said 310 cartons of cigars recovered from two passengers. 

In another drive, this team recovered 802 cartons of cigars in an abandoned state in the international arrival lounge, he added. The recovered cigars were handed over to the airport customs for necessary action.
