Continue project implementation work without excuse: Minister

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun MP has called for continuing the work of the project without any excuse. He said the work of the project should be taken forward in compliance with all kinds of hygiene rules in the Corona pandemic. This will strengthen the monitoring activities of digital projects. 

The Minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a virtual meeting to review the revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) of the Ministry of Industries for the fiscal year 2020-2021. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Industry. 

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder was the special guest at the function presided over by Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the ministry and heads of various agencies and corporations under the ministry. At that time, the directors of various projects were virtually connected.

In all the places where the project land acquisition has been completed, the tender process needs to be started quickly. Noting the scope of work, the Industries Minister said that the Ministry of Industries has to fulfill the multi-faceted responsibilities of the government. So we have to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to us by following the hygiene rules, the Minister added.

Out of 48 projects in FY 2020-21, 15 projects have been completed. It was informed in the meeting that a project titled “BSIC Food Processing Industrial City, Thakurgaon” was approved at the ECNEC meeting on 28 July 2021. The cost of the three-year project is estimated at Tk 9,061 crore. The project will be implemented by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSIC). The main objective of this project is to provide industrial plots for food processing industry entrepreneurs by setting up modern industrial parks rich in industrial compliance.

It was informed at the meeting that there are a total of 48 development projects in the annual development program of the Ministry of Industries in the fiscal year 2020-2021. Of these, 44 are investment projects, 03 are technical assistance and one is self-financed projects. In all, the allocation for these projects was Tk 3,642.55 crore. Of this, Tk 1,699.91 crore has been allocated for the Geo sector, Tk 2,096.45 crore for the project assistance sector and Tk 44.19 crore for the company's own financing sector. According to the meeting, Tk 3,19.25 crore has been spent on the projects till June 2021.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder MP said arrangements should be made to make every institution profitable in the new financial year. Ongoing projects need to be properly implemented. In Corona, the project managers have to supervise the work from their own project area in compliance with the hygiene rules. The Minister of State for Industries urged to complete the work of buffer godown where it has not been completed.

Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana called upon the officials of the ministries and departments / agencies to complete the work of the project within the stipulated time.
