Besides, foreign ships carrying imported goods do not have to wait for days to unload the goods. As soon as the ship arrives, it gets a chance to enter the port jetty. Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Real Admiral M Shahjahan informed about the matter on Monday.
According to the port authorities, containers unloading speed from the port slowed down due to the closure of various industries during the corona period.
The tangle is made of container. After handling the situation, the port authorities allowed all kinds of goods to be unloaded at private container depots in early August. As the situation is normal now, the containers full of goods are being unloaded from the port quickly. After lifting the lockdown, everyone unloaded the goods from the port and now there is no clutter of containers in the port. At normal times the port has an average stock of 1.5 to 2 thousand containers. At present this number has come down to thousands.
According to the port authorities, the container has been cleared and the speed of ships in the port has also increased. Foreign ships carrying goods no longer have to wait long for unloading. Crowds are getting a chance at the jetty as soon as the ship arrives. Port Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan said no ship had to wait at sea in the last one week. As soon as the ship arrives, there is an opportunity to rush to the jetty and unload the goods immediately. Importers and shipping authorities are also benefiting.
