In the first phase, the construction work of social service complex is underway in 22 districts under the project of construction of Social Service Complex in each district to improve the living standards of the underprivileged people. Kishoreganj district is one of them.
Disability Services and Help Centres, Deputy Director's Office, Town Social Services, Conference Rooms, Rest Houses are being brought under one roof. Initiatives have been taken by the government to facilitate the services. The construction work of the district social service complex at the Government Children's Family (Boys) Campus at Nagua in Kishoreganj district town is being expedited.
The construction work, which started in May 2019, is nearing completion with the implementation of the Department of Public Works on the initiative of the Ministry of Social Welfare at a cost of 12 crore 96 lakh. The construction work is scheduled to be completed in November 2020.
Going to the ground, it can be seen that the construction work of the 2nd floor has been completed. Talking to the officials of the contracting company, it is learned that the construction work up to the 6th floor will be completed by next November. Although workers are in crisis due to the spread of the coronavirus, it is no longer there. From 31st May, as per the instructions of the government, limited public transport will be available so that we can bring various goods and continue the construction work at a very fast pace.
Md. Kamruzzaman Khan, Deputy Director, District Social Services Office, said that with the launch of the District Social Service Complex, the quality of service will be facilitated under the same roof, including old age and widow allowance, disability allowance, medical allowance, training special allowance for Hijra and Vedic backward classes. He added that a disability service and help center has been set up on the ground floor of the complex, Deputy Director's office on the 2nd and 3rd floor, town social service office on the 4th floor, conference room on the 5th floor and rest house on the 6th floor.
