Concerted efforts of all government and non-government organizations concerned can be the crucial means of achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in the health sector.
The present government has given utmost emphasis on institutional delivery side by side with ensuring Ante natal, postnatal and neonatal cares to achieve the SDG-3 through bringing down maternal and newborn death to the stipulated figures by 2030.
So, utmost emphasis should be given on creating public awareness about achieving the cherished goal within the stipulated time.
Government officials and other stakeholders came up with the observation while addressing a divisional workshop titled "Ensuring effective planning to achieve SDG in the local level health sector" here today.
The Health Service Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized the workshop at Grand River View Hotel discussing and devising ways and means on how to attain the goal with collective efforts.
Senior Secretary to the Health Service Division Dr Anwar Hossain Hawlader addressed the meeting as chief guest, while Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir spoke as special guest with Additional Secretary (Planning) of the Health Service Division Nargish Khanom in the chair.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr Rasheda Sultana, former senior secretary Asadul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Shamim Ahmed and Divisional Director of Health Dr Anwarul Kabir also spoke on the occasion.
The chief guest said the present government under the dynamic and prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to implement the SDGs including SDG3 on "Good Health and Well-being".
So, all the local level entities concerned should be committed to executing the SDGs that included SDG3 through facing all the existing challenges to supplement the government endeavor.
