Compensate families of juvenile correction centre victims: HC


The High Court (HC) on Monday ordered authorities concerned explain as to why it shall not pass order to give Taka 50 lakh to families of each of the three victims, who were allegedly beaten to death by employees at Jessore Juvenile Correction Center, reports BSS.

The court also asked why it shall not order to take necessary steps to remove all the irregularities and problems at the center.

A High Court division bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder passed the order, asking home secretary, director general of Department of Social Services, Jessore deputy commissioner, superintendent of police and Jessore Juvenile Correction Center to comply with the order within four-weeks.

The court came up with the order after holding hearing on a writ filed in this regard. Earlier legal notices were sent to the authorities concerned. Barrister Sanjid Siddiqui moved the plea before the court for the victim families.
