The steep rise of coronavirus infected over the past fifteen days resulting in the infection of a total of 1012 patients is a hint that community transmission may have started in the country. Despite the government’s repeated efforts to contain the spread of the virus to a minimum as possible, the numbers have sky rocketed. However, it is not too late to maintain the only preventive method so far been advisable by experts to effectively bring down the number of infected.

From April 1 to 15 the past half month has seen the number of patients to increase by hundreds each day. In the beginning of the month it was only 54 patients, the number of infected reaching over one thousand in just fifteen days means that the number of people contracting the virus is increasing proportionately every day. It will not take too long for mass infection to occur in the country.

Facing such a dire situation it is imperative for the law enforcement agencies and personnel to strictly crackdown on irregular people who are still not adhering to the rules set by the government to stamp out the spread of the virus. Experts opine that if the nationwide lockdown is strictly maintained then the transmission can be stopped. The next three four weeks are very crucial for the people. It will decide the outcome whether the virus’ spread can be controlled in the country or not.

According to documented records, 5,684 people were placed in home quarantine, 484 in institutional quarantine and 84 in isolation across the country. Also, until Sunday, the virus spread to 29 districts out of the country's 64 districts. In the capital, it spread to 81 neighbourhoods. This is a significant area that the virus has spread to so far. This is needed to be strictly controlled in order for the spread to be properly stopped.
