The government has decided to form a high profile committee to look into 15-point demand of the Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners’ Workers’ Oikyyo Parisad, reports BSS.
“This committee will inform the ministry within January 31 following this the Parisad will have to insure not to call any strike till January 31,” State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told this to journalists emerging out of a meeting with leaders of Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners’ Workers’ Oikyyo Parisad at Bydhut Bhaban on Sunday.
Referring owners of Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry, he said common people would suffer if you call on strike so as being businessmen you should not go for strike.
“We have responsibility for general people I also ran trade body. We can talks anytime. Why you will go for demonstration and it will create negative thinking among common people,” Nasrul said.
The state minister requested owners of petrol pumps that do not sell adulterated fuel, adding, “We will consider your demand if it is logical and just.” He said the committee will be constituted with your representatives and you will sit there and discuss the issue.
“We will sit further after January 31. We cannot take responsibility for the environment alone,” Nasrul said. Joint Secretary of Energy Division M Sher Ali said, “We have already sent a proposal to increase the commission to BG Press for the Gazette.” In the proposal, it is proposed to increase the commission of petrol from Taka 3.66 to Taka 3.90 and Tank Lorry rent from Taka 2.22 to Taka 3.90 per liter.
The meeting was attended by secretary of Energy Division Abu Heena Rahmatul Munim, secretary of road transport and highways division Nazrul Islam, chairman of BPC Samusur Rahman, leaders of Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners’ Workers’ Parisad, representative from home ministry, industries ministry and others.
