Commission to work independently in CUCSU elections: CU VC

Chattogram University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Yeahiya Akhtar said that the Election Commission will work independently and impartially.

“We are ready to provide all kinds of cooperation in this regard. We want to set an example by conducting free and fair elections so that others follow us. Everyone's cooperation is needed to organize a successful CUCSU election,” he said.

He said these things at a view-sharing meeting at the Election Commissioner's office (CUCSU Bhaban) on Sunday.

A meeting of all the university boards was organised by the Election Commission to make the Chattogram University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections 2025 free, fair and exemplary with the cooperation of everyone.

CU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin said that we are moving forward in such a way that there is no gap in any election process. Everything will be conducted as the Election Commission wants in the election.  We will take into account the suggestions that have been received. CUCSU election is like the national election for us. If everyone works sincerely and fulfills their responsibilities well, we will be able to give the students a transparent and beautiful election. Adequate law enforcement will be present on the campus especially during the CUCSU election.

The meeting was moderated by the Election Commission and Member Secretary Professor Dr. AKM Ariful Haque Siddiqui, and was attended by Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Monir Uddin, Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mohammad Tayyab Chowdhury, Professor Dr. Muhammad Zafar Ullah Talukder, Professor Dr. Amir Muhammad Nasrullah, Professor Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, Professor Mohammad Jahedur Rahman Chowdhury and Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain.

Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr Monir Uddin said, "Our job is to give everyone the opportunity to freely participate in the elections to create quality leadership among students. In this regard, everyone's sincere cooperation is needed."

The meeting was attended by CU Faculty of Sociology Dean Professor Dr. Md. Enayet Ulya Patwari, Faculty of Biology Dean Professor Dr. Md. Golam Kibria, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries Dean Professor Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain, Shaheed Farhad Hall Provost Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Atish Dipankar Hall Provost AGM Niaz Uddin, Finance Department President Professor Dr. Mohammad Nesarul Karim, Botany Department President Professor Dr. Kazi Mohammad Mejbaul Alam, Transport Department Administrator Professor Dr. Mohammad Morshedul Islam, CU BNCC Coordination Officer Professor Dr. Bayezid Mahmud Khan and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Abu Tayyab, among others.

 Also present were Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Shaheen Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Dr. Muhammad Zafar Ullah Talukder, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Sanaullah Chowdhury, Faculty of Engineering. The speakers presented various suggestions and opinions in the exchange meeting. They also assured all kinds of cooperation to make the CUCSU elections successful.
