Comilla University likely to reopen by October

The Academic Council of Comilla University has proposed on Thursday to resume in-person classes and reopen halls by the end of October.

The recommendation was made at a meeting, chaired by the university vice-chancellor Professor Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury.

Confirming the development, member secretary of the council and registrar (additional in-charge) Prof. Dr. Abu Taher said that the Academic Council had recommended to reopen the halls on October 27 and resume classes on 

October 28.

Meanwhile, the admission test of C unit of the cluster universities will be held on November 1. In that case, the council has proposed to rebegin classes on November 2.

However, the final decision regarding reopening halls and university will be taken on Syndicate meeting, scheduled to be held on October 26.

A committee was also formed at the Academic Council to check the suitability of reopening the halls by the proposed date. The syndicate will take the final decision on the basis of the committee’s report.

The committee was headed by thetreasurer Professor Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman as the convenor, Proctor Dr. Kazi Mohammad Kamal Uddin as the member secretary and all hall provosts as the members.

Meanwhile, the Comilla University took in-person examinations in three phases after the universityhad beenclosed due to theCovid-19 pandemic in March last yearwhile the latest started physicalexaminationsare still ongoing.
