Arshed Ali, a farmer of Bhuyapur Upazila of Tangail, cultivates various types of vegetables in his land every year. This time, on the advice of the local Upazila agriculture office, they have shown surprise by growing colored cauliflower as an experiment on half of that land. It has received a huge response from farmers and consumers. Without using chemical fertilizers and pesticides, only by using organic fertilizers, four-color cauliflower has gained double profit.
Farmer Arshed Ali has grown experimental colorful cauliflower for the first time in this Upazila. Seeing his success with the help of Agriculture Office, many vegetable farmers including local youth are expressing interest. Besides, eager people including farmers are flocking every day from morning to afternoon to see the beauty of this colorful cauliflower. Coming to see colorful cauliflower, some are buying cauliflower, some are taking advice, some are taking pictures and recording videos with colorful cauliflower. The local agriculture department is also happy with the success of colorful cauliflower. Farmer Arshed also said, with the advice of Upazila Agriculture Officer agriculturist Dr Humayun Kabir and with the help of 400 seedlings of new varieties of colorful cauliflower from the agriculture office, organic fertilizers, insecticides and all kinds of cooperation, we cultivated colorful cauliflower experimentally on only 15 acres of land next to the house. It has 4 colors of cauliflower.
He also said that within 75 to 80 days of planting seedlings in the land, we got a full crop in the land. The interesting thing is that everyday people including farmers of the area come to my land to see these colorful cauliflowers. Some are buying cauliflower, some are taking advice, some are taking pictures, making videos. Moreover, these color copies are sold as soon as they are taken to the market. The price is good. Mahmudul Hasan, a farmer of Katubpur Mohalla, came to see the cauliflower after hearing about the colorful cauliflower cultivation. Talk to him. He said, I have heard many names of colorful cauliflower. But I could not see with my own eyes. When I came to know that a farmer named Arshed Ali cultivated colorful cauliflower in the neighboring village, I came to see cauliflower. Learned about colorful cauliflower cultivation from farmer Arshed. I also hope to grow this colorful cauliflower in the future.
Colorful cauliflower buyers Rafiqul Islam Ravi and Abdur Rahim Mia came from Gopalpur, Kalihati and Ghatail of the district to see the colorful cauliflower. Talking to them, Rafiqul and Rahim Mia said that they have never seen such colorful cauliflower before. Upazila Agriculture Officer Dr Human Kabir said that after seeing the picture of colorful cauliflower in Facebook post, he went to the coppice field and bought one cauliflower at the rate of Tk 50 per piece.
It is known that this type of cauliflower is used as salad in China. Colored cauliflower is more nutritious than white cauliflower. Looks very nice too. In our country it is very useful to eat half boiled. Colored cauliflower is grown in the same way as other cauliflowers. The cost and effort are the same. Besides, this cauliflower can be cultivated by using only organic fertilizers. There is a huge demand for it in the local bazaar.
In this regard, Upazila Agriculture Officer agriculturist Dr Humayun Kabir said that this is the first initiative to cultivate colored cauliflower experimentally in the Upazila. No one was interested then. Later, when a farmer named Arshed Ali expressed interest, he was assisted by the Agriculture Office by providing 400 cauliflower seedlings, organic fertilizers, insecticides and advice. Initially 4 colors of cauliflower have been cultivated.
Deputy Director of Tangail District Agricultural Extension Directorate said. Ahsanul Basar said, with the aim of increasing the intensity of crops in the greater Mymensingh region, an initiative was taken to cultivate colorful cauliflower in 12 Upazilas of the district. First of all, success was found in Bhayanpur Upazila.
This type of cauliflower has more nutrients. Cauliflower also plays a special role in preventing cancer. Due to the success of experimental cultivation this season, many farmers have expressed interest in commercial cultivation next year.
