Admissions for class 11 commenced across Bangladesh yesterday, on July 15, highlighting the diverse range of admission fees based on college type and location. In Dhaka, English non-MPO colleges are permitted to charge a maximum of 8,500 taka, while Bengali non-MPO colleges have a ceiling of 7,500 taka. In other major metropolitan areas, Bengali non-MPO colleges can charge up to 5,000 taka, whereas English counterparts can charge up to 6,000 taka.

District-level fees vary slightly, with Bengali colleges setting their fees at 3,000 taka and English colleges at 4,000 taka. At the upazila level, Bengali colleges can charge up to 2,500 taka, while English colleges may charge up to 3,000 taka. MPO colleges in Dhaka have set their admission fees at 5,000 taka, while those in other metropolitan areas are capped at 3,000 taka. District-level MPO colleges charge 2,000 taka, and upazila-level ones charge 1,500 taka.

The admission process also includes a quota system aimed at ensuring equitable access to education. Of the total seats available, 93% are open to all applicants. Additionally, 5% of seats are reserved for children of freedom fighters, honoring their sacrifices for the nation's independence. Another 2% are reserved for children of Education Ministry employees, reflecting efforts to support families serving the educational sector.

As admissions kick off, the system aims to accommodate a diverse range of students while maintaining fairness and accessibility.

The online admission process, supported by technical assistance from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology under the Dhaka Education Board, is set to streamline applications and ensure transparency throughout the process.
