A teacher of Karpashdanga Degree College in Damurhuda upazila of Chaudanga district was killed in a road accident on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 50, son of Ershad Master, resident of Colonypara under Karpashdanga union in Damurhuda upazila of the district.
The incident occurred on Karpashdanga-Mujibnagar road at 7:00am on Saturday.
Locals and family members said at around 7:00am on Saturday, teacher Shafiqul Islam went for a walk as usual on Karpashdanga-Mujibnagar road in Damuhuda upazila. While he reached near Fakirkhali on the Mujibnagar road of the upazila, he was hit by an unidentified vehicle. He fell on road and died on the spot.
Later, people rushed there when they saw a body lying on the road. The body of Shafiqul Islam was recovered and was taken to his own house.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Damurhuda Model Police Station Md Alamgir Kabir confirmed the matter. He said none was able to identify the vehicle. A case was filed with the police station in this connection under the Road Transport Act.
