The body of Suman Mia, a college student who went missing on November 4, was recovered on Monday night after digging earth in the yard of a police officer’s house in the Sajborbkhila area under Sherpur Sadar upazila.
District Superintendent of Police Md Aminul Islam confirmed the matter. He informed that they have detained three people in this connection.
The detainees are Nazrul Islam, a resident of the Bagrakosa area of Sherpur city; her daughter Anni Aktar, 19, an eleventh grade college student; and the policeman’s son Rabin Mia, 20. The deceased Suman was the son of farmer Md Nazrul Islam of Kosba Barakpara area of the Sadar upazila and an eleventh grade college student of Sherpur Government College.
It is known that on the evening of November 4, Suman Mia was abducted from the Bagaraksha Kazibari Pukurpar area of the city while returning home from the college campus.
According to the case details, Anni Aktar, a classmate of the victim, sought to start an affair with Suman, who rejected it a few days back.
On November 4, Anni, along with two to three youths, abducted Suman on his way home from the college in Bagrakosa Kazibari Pukurpar.
Later, Suman’s father filed a general diary at the Sadar police station.
With the help of technology and intelligence, the law enforcers found involvement of the three in the abduction and detained them, said the Superintendent of Police, Md Aminul Islam.
During the primary interrogation, the detainees admitted the kidnapping, and the body was recovered from the yard upon their statements, he added.
The SP informed that they detected Suman’s last location in Mymensingh on Sunday, and since then his mobile phone was been switched off.
Sadar police station’s Officer-in-Charge Md Jubaidul Alam, said the body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
