The week-long admission process for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent courses for 2020-21 academic session began on Sunday and will continue until Thursday.
The government also planned to start online classes for the 11th grade students from October.
“Classes for the 11th grade will start in the first week of October. It will be held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic unless the government reopens educational institutions,” said Prof Ziaul Haque, chairman of Dhaka Education Board.
In the meantime, the government published policy guidelines, to be followed for the admission in addition to issuing two separate notifications on September 8.
According to the notifications, no institution enjoying MPO (monthly payment order) facility in the upazila level will charge more than Tk 1000 for session and admission fee
No colleges in district towns will charge more than Tk 2000 and colleges in other metropolitan areas except Dhaka will collect not more than over Tk 3000, it read.
In Dhaka city, college listed under MPO scheme cannot charge more than Tk 5000 for admission while it was set at maximum Tk 7000 for non-MPO Bengali-medium institutions and Tk 8,000 for English version.
Considering the coronavirus situation, no institution is also allowed to charge over Tk 1500 for development fees – some Tk 1,500 less than that of last year’s.
In addition, the Red Crescent fee has been reduced by 40 percent to Tk 12. If a student has a study break he/she will can enroll after realising Tk 100 as late fee.
Moreover, the new books for 11th grade students will be available in the market from October 1.
