Cold wave sweeps country

The ongoing cold wave may continue for the next two to three days, according to meteorologists.

At the same time, in the beginning of February, that is, in the last week of Magh, tenth month of the Bengali calendar, there is a possibility of rain.

Saturday was the 15th day of Magh. On Friday, a mild to moderate cold spell started across the country. On Saturday, it expanded to new areas.

The cold wave is now sweeping across most parts of the country. However, meteorologists said that for the time being, there is no danger of increasing the intensity of winter and spreading of cold wave.

On Friday, mild to moderate cold wave started in Gopalpur, Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Jessore and Kushtia districts including Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions.

The meteorological department said that mild to moderate cold wave will continue over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions including Gopalganj, Tangail, Kishoreganj, Feni, Jessore, Kushtia, Chuadanga and Barisal districts on Saturday.

According to the meteorological department, if the temperature is between 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, it is called mild cold, if it is between 6 and 7 degrees, it is called moderate cold and when the temperature drops below 6 degree Celsius, it is known as severe cold wave.

The minimum temperature at Rajarhat in Kurigram in the northern district of the country was recorded at 6.1 degrees Celsius on Friday when the cold wave started. This was the lowest temperature recorded in the country this winter.

According to the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 9 am on Saturday, the weather across the country may remain dry. There may be moderate to heavy fog in the northwest of the country from midnight to morning and light to moderate fog in other parts of the country.

The meteorological department also forecast that night and day temperatures across the country may remain unchanged during this time.
