Around 6,000 people have been affected by various cold-related diseases in the last 24 hours across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
DGHS control room data showed that some 2,059 people were treated for diarrhoea and 2,919 for diseases including fever, skin diseases, infection in the eye and jaundice. Another 967 patients received treatment for acute respiratory infection.
Forty-four deaths were reported across the country between November 1 and December 24 due to cold-related diseases.
Khagrachhari and Panchagarh recorded 10 deaths each during this period. While all of the victims from Khagrachhari died of acute respiratory infection, those in Panchagarh died due to other illnesses, the DGHS data showed.
