At least ten thousands primary and secondary teachers in the country are getting necessary training to continue their online classes during Covid-19 pandemic as Coders’Trust Bangladesh, an international ICT company headquartered in Dhaka, is providing the training free of cost.

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni inaugurated the training on June 20, Saturday, through a webinar while the teachers have enrolled in the programme through online registrations.

Aziz Ahmad, Co-founder of Coders’Trust, joined from his New Jersey home located in the USA while Md. Fasihullah, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education, Abdul Karim, former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Nazrul Islam Khan, former Education Secretary, Brig Gen (Rtd) Abdul Halim, Advisor of Coders’Trust and Siddiqur Rahman, Editor of Shikkha.com, also took part in the inaugural ceremony from their respective places as special guests. Ataul Ghani Osmani, Country Director of Coders’Trust Bangladesh, also joined the discussion.

Shikkha.com is co-partnering with Coders’Trust in coordinating the teachers for the training.

Terming Covid-19 as a global crisis, Dr. Dipu Moni, in her inaugural speech, said, “All our usual activities are somehow hampered, but we are not staying idle. We are trying hard to advance with our educational activities in many different ways.

“Every crisis opens up some opportunities and the covid-19 crisis has opened up the use of information technology for education more effectively in our country.”

We were already in the process, and we knew that the online education is a must to be incorporated, but Covid-19 has fast forwarded us to do it now, Dipu Moni added.

In his welcome address, Aziz Ahmad put emphasis on enrichment of education system in Bangladesh through human capitalization.

Mr. Ahmad said that he himself and the organisations he runs are always ready to extend cooperation for education.

We cannot let our education be hindered during Covid-19. We must find some way out and online education is the most effective and possible solution, he added.

Since its inception Coders’Trust Bangladesh has been working for making the concept of Digital Bangladesh, dreamt by the premier Sheikh Hasina, a reality, said Aziz Ahmad.

Md. Fasiullah, Director General of the Directorate of the Primary Education, thanked Coders’Trust and the Shikkha.com for taking this initiative.

“There are 4,00,000 primary teachers and they all need training. Government itself has taken several measures for training them up. But covering all the teachers is not so easy. It is really nice that Coders’Trust is going to train 10,000 teachers free of cost”, said Fasiullah.

Abdul Karim, former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, said, “It is very important to make sure the teachers do have IT knowledge as we are moving towards a IT-based society. Covid-19 has fast forwarded us to the situation and training for the teachers has become an urgent necessity.”

Coders’Trust’s Advisor Brig. Gen (Rtd) Abdul Halim said that the Corona crisis has opened up the exploration of online education in our country. We have already started using the online system and hope the training of Coders’Trust will help the teachers for performing better in the online classes, he added.

Shikkha.com’s editor Siddiqur Rahman described the aims and objectives of the training programme whereas Coders’Trust Country Director Ataul Ghani Osmani expressed his hope that the teachers would be able to learn the techniques of taking online classes very easily.

Each day three batches consisting of fifty teachers in each will be trained, informed Osmani.
