Coast Guard seizes 3.22 lakh Yaba tablets in Teknaf

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Station Teknaf raiding the Katabunia area of Sabrang under Teknaf police station in Cox’s Bazar seized 3,22,000 pieces of yaba and a wooden boats used for smuggling on Tuesday midnight.

This information was given by Lt. Commander M Hamidul Islam, Media Officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarters on Wednesday noon.

He said that based on secret information of yaba being smuggled from Myanmar to Bangladesh, Coast Guard members took position at the Zero Point area of Sabrang.

During the operation, a wooden boat was seen coming from Myanmar border to Bangladesh. When their movements seemed suspicious, BCG men chased the boat and it fled to the shore.

Later, the boat was searched and 3 lakh 22 thousand pieces of yaba tablets were seized. The seized yaba tablets and wooden boat have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.

He further said that Coast Guard has adopted zero tolerance policy in the areas covered by them to maintain law and order for public safety as well as to prevent piracy, robbery and drug trade, regular operations will continue in the future as well.
