Coast Guard rescues 35 fishermen from Bay

Personnel of Bangladesh Coast Guard, east zone, while patrolling through the ship 'BCG Sabuj Bangla', rescued 35 fishermen trapped in a broken fishing boat (Dayal Nabiji-1) from near Bhasanchar in the Bay of Bengal around 11: 30 am on Monday. 

According to sources, at around 8-00 am the coast guard personnel came to learn that 35 fishermen were floating on a boat with broken engine near Bhasanchar at the southern Bay of Bengal. 

The BCG personnel then rushed to the spot with the patrol ship BCG Sobuj Bangla and rescued all 35 fishermen from the boat. Rescued fishermen were then brought to Patenga Coast Guard outpost. All the rescued fishermen were sound in health. 

Rescued fishermen informed, they went to catch fish in the sea on August-20. In the sea, the engine of their boat got out of order and by losing control of the boat they were floating on the sea. 

Later on, they were rescued by the Coast Guard personnel by their ship.  Rescued fishermen have been sent to their respective villages and the boat has been handed over to its owner, informed Lieutenant Commnader M. Hayat Ibne Siddique, Media Officer.
