Coast Guard catches 1 with 84,000 Yaba pills

On Wednesday morning, members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) station in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf arrested a smuggler along with 84,000 pieces of yaba tablets, conducting an special operation.

On the basis of secret information, the special operation led by Teknaf BCG Station Commander Lieutenant Commander M Naeem ul Haq, was conducted in the area adjacent to Katabunia of Sabrang Union under Teknaf Police Station.

During the operation, a man carrying a black bag was seen walking along nearby pine forest in the Katabunia Ghat area in Sabrang Union. When the man's movements seemed suspicious, Coast Guard members signaled him to stop with a whistle.

Realising the presence of the Coast Guard members, the suspect dropped the bag and tried to flee, but the Coast Guard members were able to arrest him after chasing. Later searching the bag 84,000 yaba tablets were found inside.

The arrestee is identified as Md Amin, 50, son of late Kashem Ali of Sabrang Kachubunia in Teknaf. The arrestee along with the seized yaba tablets has been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.

Regular operations like this have been and will continue to be carried out by the Coast Guard members as they have adopted a zero tolerance policy to maintain law and order, public safety as well as to curb piracy, robbery and drug trade in the areas covered by Bangladesh Coast Guard.
