Coast Guard distributes relief items in Bagerhat

Relief materials were distributed among 250 helpless and needy families in different areas of Moralganj police station in Bagerhat district by Sharankhola station of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) in collaboration with Bidyananda Foundation on Wednesday.

In addition, 900 packets of biscuits, 2,500 packets of oral saline, 5,000 packets of water purification tablets were distributed among them too.

Lt. Commander Amirul Haque, a media officer at the Bangladesh Coast Guard headquarters, informed this on Wednesday afternoon.

The official said since its inception, Bangladesh Coast Guard has come forward to meet various needs of the people of the coastal areas. In that continuity, BCG and Bidyananda Foundation have come forward to help the unemployed and destitute people of the coast amid the current corona pandemic situation. 

Relief has already been distributed among the poor, destitute and unemployed people in various coastal areas with the funding of Bidyananda Foundation under the supervision of BCG.

As part of the ongoing relief distribution programme, in collaboration with the Bidyananda Foundation and managed by the Bangladesh Coast Guard, Sharankhola BCG Station under the West Zone distributed 250 bags of relief items to helpless and distressed families in Solambaria, Dona, Santi Bhanga and Patabaria areas of Moralganj Police Station in Bagerhat District. 

Local people's representatives including members of Coast Guard West Zone were present during the relief distribution function.

It may be mentioned that on Tuesday, BCG station Kaikhali distributed 135 bags of relief, 1,120 packets of saline and 375 bottles of water in Tengrakhali area under Shyamnagar police station of Satkhira district.

He further said that this continuity of cooperation between the unemployed and the destitute in the coastal areas has continued and will continue in the future as well to ensure law and order, curb robberies and to ensure public safety in the areas under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Coast Guard.
