The activities of all police stations will be controlled and CCTV cameras in each police station will be monitored by Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner’s office.

Newly-appointed CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir said this during a view-exchange meeting (meet the press) with journalists working in Chattogram on Thursday afternoon.

At the same time, he expressed hope that the Chittagong Metropolitan Police would be streamlined and said that the police station is the main focal point of police service for the people.

The Commissioner said, “First of all, I will work to equip the police stations so that, in any case, people rush to the police station. I will monitor who is coming and going out of the police station and what kind of work is going on there.  I will enrich the police station with information technology to facilitate intensive work as well”.

Expressing his determination to create a Safe City for the people of Chattogram, CMP Commissioner said, there is a concept of Safe City in many metros of the world. He also want to start it in Chattogram with their limited capacity and the help of city dwellers. There are plans to further modernize the ongoing works and increase the coverage. He said the media works to provide information to the police and general public.  They will ensure free flow of information in the media.  No distance can be kept between general public and the police. The role of media is important in this case.

CMP sources also informed that the commissioner plans to work extensively on militancy, drugs, juvenile gangs, cyber crime, traffic management, community policing and bit policing.

“I don’t want to talk about it now, my activities will speak. Just observe and see if any change comes” he said in response to a question from reporters at the event.

Additional CMP Commissioner (Finance and Administration) Amena Begum, Additional Commissioner Mostaq Ahmed Khan, Additional Commissioner Shyamal Kumar Nath, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Amir Zafar and others officials were present at the time.
