CMP will have security arrangements at 266 places in the city, said CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja.
CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy visited Sanatan Samaj Kalyan Sangh Puja Mandap at Lalkhan Bazar under Khulshi Police Station and JM Sen Hall Puja Mandap under Kotwali Police Station on Thursday.
During the inspection, the CMP Commissioner discussed the overall security arrangements of the Puja Mandap with the journalists present.
He said, Autumn Durga Puja celebrations have been organized at 266 places in Chattogram metropolitan area. CMP's security plan has been formulated around these 266 Puja mandapas. Each puja mandap will have plainclothes policemen as well as policemen from Striking Reserve Force, SWAT, Bomb Disposal Unit on duty. There are also detective police members. Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has taken four levels of security measures to ensure overall security.
He said, a disciplinary committee has been formed around each mandap regardless of caste and religion.
The overall discipline of the mandap should be maintained through the provision of separate gates for the entry of male and female visitors to each mandap, installation of CCTV cameras, sufficient number of volunteers etc.
As every time the people of Chattogram have a non-communal spirit in every festival of every religion, this time also the city residents will continue to support the universal Autumn Durga Puja Festival celebration from a non-communal spirit.
Apart from the security system, he also stressed the importance of maintaining the overall order situation of the mandaps.
