CMP begins Covid-19 awareness campaign

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched an awareness campaign on a possible second wave of coronavirus and to stem the spread of the highly contagious virus during the upcoming winter.

CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir inaugurated the program at port city's shopping mall 'Concord Khulshi Town Center' on Wednesday.

Addressing the function, the CMP chief said there was no substitute to be aware of coronavirus personally. “We can protect ourselves from the virus pandemic by using mask.”  

“We have a unit called Humanitarian Policing. It deals with the humanitarian aspects. Distribution of masks and leaflets is a part of its activities,” he added.

Expressing concern over a possible second virus wave in the winter, Tanvir said “We have requested the businesses and other organizations to adopt 'No Mask, No Service' rules as directed by the government.   “The traders have also assured us of following the government directives,” he added.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) Mostaq Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Vijay Basak, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nadira Noor, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (Bayezid Bostami Zone) Paritran Talukder, Officer-In-Charge of Khulshi Police Station Md Shahinuzzaman and Inspector (Investigation) Humayun Kabir, among others, were present on the occasion.
