People need to be made aware of this issue. A new chapter has begun at Chattogram Medical College with a separate ward. The quality of medical services in the country has now increased. Patients will receive high-quality medical services here. This will reduce dependence on Dhaka. This ward with only 11 beds was opened at CMC Hospital for the treatment of pediatric kidney patients on December 11, 2013. It was crowded inside the Child Health department and medical services had to be provided. As the number of patients increased, the number of beds was later increased to 15. The hospital authorities have opened this separate ward in a secure environment, considering the risks, suffering and needs of pediatric patients.
Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital Director Brigadier General Md Taslim Uddin said, "We are always striving to ensure an improved and safe medical service environment for pediatric patients. The relatives of the patients will also find a lot of relief in this."
He said, the issue of opening a separate kidney ward for pediatric patients was part of our long-standing plan. Finally, it has been implemented. We prepared the ward three months ago. Currently, patients are receiving treatment in this new ward.
Pediatric Kidney Disease Department Physician Dr. Maruf-ul-Qader said, earlier we used to provide limited treatment to pediatric kidney patients within the pediatric ward. Now it will be much easier to provide better medical services to children in a safe environment in a separate ward. Pediatric patients will get all kinds of facilities including dialysis facilities. It will be much easier to provide children with a safe environment and better treatment. Which is great news for the people of Chittagong. Hospital sources said that on December 11, 2013, a ward with only 11 beds was opened for pediatric kidney patients at CMC Hospital. At that time, it was inside ward number 8 of the pediatric health department. However, as the number of patients increased, the number of beds was increased to 15 after four years. However, due to the lack of a separate ward, patients had to be treated in the same ward with other patients. This increased the risk and suffering of pediatric patients. The hospital authorities prepared this new ward a few months ago to ensure separate treatment facilities in a safe environment for pediatric patients as the demand increased. The infrastructure of the new ward was prepared about three months ago. It has dialysis facilities for children. As a result, pediatric kidney patients will now be able to receive medical care in a completely separate, quiet environment.
