The dental unit of Chittagong Medical College has been approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for conversion into a 'Dental College'.  As a result, the dental unit of Chittagong Medical College is now different.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the World Oral Health Day organized by the Dental Society at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka on Sunday. It is learned that a place has been allotted in the garden area next to the CMC hostel on Chatteswari Road for the purpose of setting up 'Chittagong Dental College'.

The college will be spread over 3 acres of land in this area. In the meantime, the Chittagong Public Works Department has conducted a digital survey there.

A delegation from the Ministry of Health has visited the site to set up a full-fledged dental college.  Since it is a hilly area, the dental college will be set up after reviewing everything.

It may be mentioned that Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Dental Unit and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) started its journey in 1990 with 4 students.  Dental students have been contributing to the treatment of teeth and oral cavity for the last 30 years.

Every year 60 students are admitted in BDS course.  There are also foreign students.  Diploma in Dental Surgery (DDS) course has also been introduced.
