CMAs work to ensure accountability in development activities

Speakers say at ‘DBC Fellowship Night-2019’

Terming the Cost and Management Accounting profession as a holy job, speakers at a fellowship ceremony said that the professionals of this sector are contributing significantly to the country's development.

They further said the role of accountancy in ensuring accountability in the process of development as well as in other areas of activities is widely recognised and accepted. 

The remarks were made in a seminar, organised by the Dhaka Branch Council (DBC) of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants, Bangladesh (ICMAB) as part of its fellowship night and family get together at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Friday night.  Commerce Secretary Dr. Jafar Uddin attended the ceremony as chief guest while Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Science and Technology (BUET) Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam attended as special guest.  President of ICMAB, Abul Kalam Mazumder attended the ceremony as guest of honor while president, Dhaka Branch Council, Abdus Sattar Sarker delivered address of welcome.  Addressing as the chief guest, Commerce Secretary Dr. Jafar Uddin said the accounting profession is a holy profession as the accounting professionals ensure accountability of every organisation.

"Country's economy is well founded today with the increase of GDP, standard of living, and the professionals of cost and management accountancy are contributing a lot behind this", said Dr. Zafar Uddin. He said in the last 10 years the country has made tremendous progress, and the private sector initiatives as well as the government’s friendly policy support have made it possible.  Vice Chancellor of BUET Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam said recognition of their contribution inspire them for further contribution. The ICMAB is such a body that runs continued programmes in skill development of the accounting professionals.  ICMAB President Abul Kalam Mojumder said the DBC's move to arrange the fellowship night has created an opportunity of networking among the members that will certainly contribute in strengthening fellowship among them.  A fellow member of ICMAB Md. Touhidul Alam Khan also the Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank told Bangladesh Post, “DBC arranges this gala programme in very year which endeavour for promoting and strengthening the bondage, friendship and fellowship among the family members of CMAs.”

“It is a matter of pride that Dhaka Branch Council (DBC) of ICMAB is celebrating the 34th year of fellowship night this year which connects with the policy makers of the country, business leaders and professionals as well. This year the programme was very well organised, more colourful and there were many enjoyable events for the family members of CMAs.”

More than one thousand members of ICMAB and their family members participated in the DBC fellowship night. Later a colorful cultural function was held.
