Since the government decided on closing down 22 Jute mills there has been a lot of talk and discussion about the issue. Despite the closure also arrangements are being made by the government to completely pay out the dues to the 25,000 workers of the jute mills.
Although the order is supposed to be issued within two months, it won’t be wrong to say that the government is thinking on capitalizing on this closure and purposefully make the jute sector go through a renovation.
There are several researches who talk about exploiting the full potential of the golden fibers. It would be wise for the authorities concerned to capitalize on those.
Proper training and management must be
ensured so that the golden fibers can be
brought back to their glory days.
A recent report published in this daily showed that with huge employment opportunities country’s jute sector will be revamped and modernized with sophisticated machineries in order to compete in the global market.
The report also mentioned that the existing workers who retire voluntarily will get jobs on priority basis in the mills to be modernized and reopened.
Also, with new machineries and system of production that the new would-be revamped sector will have there is also the issue of personnel training. Proper training and management must be ensured so that the golden fibers can be brought back to their glory days.
Above all, we think that modern jute mills are the key to competing in this sector globally. Ensuring proper management and taking out the idea of losses in the field is also necessary for the government to successfully get back in the jute sector.
