The ongoing closure of all secondary and higher secondary educational institutions, Ebtedayi and Qawmi Madrasas in the country has been extended till July 31.
MA Khair, Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education confirmed the matter on Tuesday. It has been informed with a notice from the ministry as well.
The closure has been extended due to the severe lockdown during the Covid-19 situation and considering the health and overall safety of students, teachers, staff and parents, the notice said.
After the first patient was identified in the country with Coronavirus on March 8 last year, all types of educational institutions have been closed since March 17.
According to a recent decision, the educational institutions were declared closed till June 30.
But the National Advisory Committee on Covid-19 recommended that educational institutions be closed as coronavirus infections and fatality have exceeded all past records in the country recently.
Besides, during the general discussion on the proposed budget for the upcoming 2021-22 fiscal year in Parliament on Tuesday regarding the opening of educational institutions, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said vaccination has started for college and university goers. Colleges and universities will be reopened once the vaccination activities are completed.
And once the pandemic situation is brought under control, primary and secondary level educational institutions will be reopened.
Meanwhile, remote learning for the students are ongoing through online platforms, radio and Sangsad TV. In addition, DSHE is conducting regular assignments for primary and secondary students for continuous assessment.
