Closure of edn instts extended till Feb 28

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the ongoing holidays of all educational institutions in the country (except Qaumi Madrasah) have been extended till February 28.

Mohammad Abul Khair, public relations officer of the Education Ministry, confirmed the information to Bangladesh Post on Sunday.

“Online educational activities will continue during the holidays,” he added.

However, the first corona patient was identified on March 8 last year in Bangladesh.

After that, the educational institutions have been closed since March 17. After extending it in a several steps, it was a holiday till February 14, it is now extended till February 28.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had said that she would think whether the educational institutions could be opened in February after reviewing the corona situation.

According to the source of the Education Ministry, the educational institutions would be opened in March, but it will remain open only for SSC and HSC students.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the HSC examination has been cancelled this year in addition to the primary and ibtedayi final and eighth final.

Although it has been decided to publish results of HSC on the basis of the results of JSC and SSC, other classes students of primary school are being given promotion to the next higher class without examination.

Besides, students are being assessed with assignments from sixth to ninth class of secondary.

On the other hand, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has allowed the final examination of Honors and Masters to be conducted in compliance with the rules of hygiene at the higher education level.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said in a press release that the ongoing holidays in all types of government and private primary schools and kindergartens have been extended till February 28 to protect students from the coronavirus.

The notification further said that the students have to abide by the instructions and disciplines issued time to time by the Prime Minister's Office, the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Public Administration and the Health Services Department.

Parents will confirm the location of the students' accommodation and the local administration will closely monitor it. The head teachers of the school will ensure that the students study their textbooks at their residences under the guidance of their parents.
