Clean city to be built thru well-planned waste management: Ctg mayor

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain said, a clean and modern city will be built through well-planned waste management. 

He said this at a programme near to the CCC office at Tigerpass in the city on Wednesday. At the programme, Abul Khair Group of Industry provided 10 diesel-powered TomToms and 41 vans to CCC.

The mayor said, "This contribution by Abul Khair Group as part of corporate social responsibility will further accelerate our activities and will be helpful in the progress of building a clean city."

He called on wealthy individuals and industrial establishments and said that if not only government initiatives but also the well-off class of the society and corporate institutions come forward, it will be possible to quickly transform Chattogram into a clean, modern and developed city.

CCC mayor also talked about not only waste management, but also the overall development activities of the city. 

He said, "I have completed about 50 percent of the work to resolve waterlogging with the cooperation of everyone who took charge of the post of mayor. InshaAllah, the remaining work will be completed quickly and the citizens will enjoy better results next year."

Former Chattogram City Mayor Mohammad Manjur Alam, CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam, Chief Cleaning Officer Commander Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Cleaning Officer Pranab Kumar Sharma and various officials and public representatives were present at the time.
