Classes at new 30 technical institutes to begin in Jan

Project Director visits Santhia to inspect construction work

As part of government’s plan to establish a technical school and college in every upazila across the country to create skilled workforces, the work on establishing 100 such institutions began in the first phase. Construction work of some institutes is going on.  

Dr Mohammad Sirajul Islam, a joint secretary and acting director of 100 technical schools and colleges under the Prime Minister's Priority Project, has said that classes will start simultaneously in 30 out of 100 schools and colleges in the country on January 1. 

He said this after visiting the construction work Technical School and College at Santhia in Pabna on Monday. 

The construction of the technical school and college at Santhia at a cost of around Tk 15 crore is nearing completion in the priority project inaugurated by the Prime Minister. 

Habibur Rahman, executive engineer of the education engineering department, said the contractor would complete the work in early December. Classes will start in the institute like 29 other technical schools and colleges in the country on January 1. 

Dr Mohammad Sirajul Islam said that among many things, the quality of work of  technical school and college at Santhia at present is satisfactory. Correcting minor errors and deviations has now come to a stage. All the furniture used in this school and college will be of very high quality.

The environment outside and inside the school will be made much more beautiful to increase the students' interest in learning. Beautiful attractive trees will be planted. There will be high quality computer labs for students. Where there will be 7 computers. 

Executive Engineer of Education Engineering Department Habibur Rahman, Principal of Pabna Polytechnic College Md. Atiqur Rahman and MD of Sajin Construction Aftab Uddin were present at the occasion.

It was known that a total of 329 more technical schools and colleges will also be constructed in second phase to help create a skilled workforce.
