UNB, Jashore: A civil staff member working as a blacksmith at Jashore Central Jail was detained on Monday morning after being caught with marijuana while entering the prison.
The accused Md Abdus Shukur, 35, was searched at the jail gate around 7:45am, as per routine procedure.
Authorities found approximately 100 to 120 grams of marijuana wrapped in white polythene, that was hidden under his right armpit, inside his shirt.
Jailor Md Shariful Alam said that Shukur was handed over to Kotwali Police Station along with the seized contraband.
The incident has also been reported to higher authorities for further action.
Abdus Shukur is the son of the late Sahim Uddin of Khunir Tek village in Saturia upazila of Manikganj district.
