City Hi-Tech Park at Demra to create 15,000 jobs

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority on Thursday signed an agreement with City Group, a leading business conglomerate of the country to set up a private high tech park styled “City Hi-Tech Park”.

The high-tech park will be set up on about 115 acres of land in Demra, Dhaka. The entire park will be developed by City Group. The park is expected to create about 15,000 jobs, according to City Group.

Earlier, on May 31, 2021, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority declared “City Hi-Tech Park” as a private high-tech park. As a result, investors in this park will get one-stop service from Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority with 14 incentive facilities. 

NM Ziaul Alam PAA, Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology attended the signing ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Dr Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director of the organization and City Hi-Tech Park Limited Chairman Md Hasan signed the agreement on behalf of the respective organisations at the conference room of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority at Agargaon in the capital.

Speaking as the chief guest at the signing ceremony, NM Ziaul Alam said that the City Group is a popular name in the country and abroad. Other companies in the country will also be encouraged and come forward to set up high-tech parks.

 He hoped that City Group would develop the park as soon as possible to create a vibrant working environment.

Bikarna Kumar Ghosh said that five high-tech parks are ready for investment in the country at the moment and three more parks are awaiting inauguration. Various companies are already working on 355 acres of land in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City at Kaliakair in Gazipur.

City Group thanked Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority for declaring their organization a private high-tech park. 

Md Hasan said, “We will make the electronics and technology products that no one could even think of making in Bangladesh. Local and foreign investors will be encouraged to install IT industry unit including microprocessor, chip design, circuit design, mobile, laptop, TV, fridge manufacturing, software development, digital and technology consultancy firm.
