Both Dhaka North and South City Corporations have set up mobile courts to ensure observance of the strict lockdown announced by the government to control the ongoing Covid-19 situation.
The mobile courts spent the two days of lockdown in vigilance and patrolling different areas under their jurisdiction.
Irfan Uddin Ahmed led a mobile court in Gulistan, Secretariat, Dhaka University, Nilkhet, Dhanmondi and Jigatla areas in front of Dhaka City Medical College of South City Corporation under the leadership of Executive Magistrate AH Irfan Uddin Ahmed.
During the petrol, he fined a man named Mostaq Mia Tk 200 for not wearing a mask in front of the Nilkhet intersection and for wandering around without a valid reason. He was fined under Section 269 of the Penal Code 1860.
Commenting on the raid, DSCC Executive Magistrate Irfan Uddin Ahmed said, "In all the places where we have conducted raids today, people have not been seen roaming the streets and shops and markets other than the authorized ones have been closed. Overall, the people are abiding by the strict lockdown rules announced by the government. "
In the areas of Dhaka North City Corporation, a total fine of Tk 21,200 was levied in 52 cases in the mobile court for violating the lockdown announced by the government and non-compliance with health rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate Md. Shahriar Rahman in Zone 1 of DNCC fined Tk. 5,000 in 25 cases, the mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate ASM Safiul Azam in Zone 2, fined Tk. 4000 in nine cases.
Tk. 3,500 were fined in two cases in the mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate Md. Mizanur Rahman, Tk. 5,600 in 4 cases in the Mobile Court headed by Executive Magistrate Sajia Afrin in Region No. 8 and Tk. 2,200 in 7 cases in the Mobile Court headed by Executive Magistrate Md. Abed Ali.
In the same area, a mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate Muhammad Ashraful Alam imposed a fine of Tk 900 in five cases. Thus, the total amount of fines collected in 52 cases is 21,200 rupees.
During this time, the city corporations delivered public awareness messages by miking. Hand sanitizers and masks were distributed and everyone was advised to abide by the health rules and regulations as directed by the government.
